Dina Dumonceaux
TUTOR
Dina is a third-year Bachelor of Secondary Education student at the University of Alberta, where she has gained valuable teaching experience. She volunteered as a tutor with the Homework Club at the Centre for Newcomers during her Community Service Learning (CSL) semester and has also taught customers about their security systems and internet services with TELUS, while training apprentices in her role as an electrician. Her teaching approach includes greeting students, starting sessions on time, and facilitating introductions, after which she assesses students’ current lessons to identify key focus areas. Dina believes in allowing students to take the lead, offering assistance as questions arise, and utilizes the Socratic method to engage learners. She incorporates various learning tools such as concept maps, scaffolding, practice questions, feedback, and vetted videos. Currently pursuing her degree, Dina previously attended MacEwan University for a Bachelor of Science before transferring to the UofA. She holds a Journeyman Ticket from the NAIT Electrician program, earned in 2012, along with a Masters Certification in 2018, and graduated from high school in 2001.
Olivia Sager
TUTOR
Olivia graduated with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2021, majoring in Physical Activity and Health. Currently, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education, majoring in Physical Education and minoring in Biology. With experience tutoring in both Math and Science courses at a high school level, Olivia also boasts a background in coaching soccer and working in health promotion with elementary and junior high schools.
Her passion for learning about the human body ignited during junior high, coinciding with her interest in sports, ultimately leading to her pursuit of a Kinesiology degree. Olivia's teaching philosophy is deeply influenced by her previous education and interests. She implements active learning into her practice, alongside inquiry-based learning and interactive lessons.
During her free time, Olivia finds solace outdoors and enjoys attending group fitness classes.
Mohamoud Osman

Mohamoud, a dedicated educator, completed his education within the francophone system before furthering his studies at the French campus of the University of Alberta, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education with a major in General Science and a minor in French. Proficient in teaching Language Arts, Science, and Mathematics, particularly in French, Mohamoud brings a wealth of subject expertise to his classroom. With two years of teaching experience spanning students aged 10 to 17, he adeptly tailors instruction to individual needs, fostering academic growth. Mohamoud's teaching philosophy prioritizes a growth mindset, viewing mistakes as learning opportunities, and promoting inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. His personal interests in sports and chess deeply influence his teaching approach, integrating values of teamwork, discipline, and strategic thinking into his lessons. Pavit Grewal

Pavit is an enthusiastic and dedicated individual currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Astrophysics and a minor in Anthropology at the University of Alberta.Pavit has developed a strong foundation in a range of subjects, with particular expertise in English, Social Studies, and Biology. His academic prowess extends to Math, as evidenced by his choice to pursue a Physics degree. Over the years, Pavit has shared his knowledge through tutoring. He believes in a student-centered approach to teaching, aiming to guide learners toward their goals by helping them understand the purpose behind the tools taught in each subject. Pavit uses analogies and relatable examples to make complex concepts more accessible. Outside of academics, Pavit has a variety of personal interests, including playing the guitar, practicing Taekwondo, playing video games, and enjoying team sports like hockey and soccer. He also has a passion for writing, reading, and cooking. Additionally, Pavit has a working knowledge of both Spanish and Punjabi, which enhances his communication skills and ability to connect with diverse audiences.
Dhruvish Zaveri

Dhruvish recently graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. He is passionate about the sciences and their real-world applications, with a long-term goal of pursuing a career in medicine. Throughout his academic journey, he has developed a strong foundation in various subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English, Psychology, and Sociology. His interdisciplinary background allows him to approach complex topics from multiple perspectives, helping students gain a deeper understanding of concepts.
During his time at the University of Alberta, Dhruvish was actively involved in mentoring younger students through various student groups, assisting them with both academic and personal challenges. He also volunteered with Science Fundamentals, an outreach program that introduces elementary school students (grades 1–6) to scientific principles through engaging, hands-on demonstrations. These experiences reinforced his belief that learning should be interactive and accessible for students of all ages and backgrounds.

Irene Vinod

Irene is currently in her third year at the University of Alberta, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Sociology. With an honors diploma from high school in the U.S. and certifications as a nurse aide and in CPR, she has developed strong subject expertise in math and English, which she has taught to students ranging from middle school to high school over the past four years. Irene's teaching philosophy centers on breaking down complex topics into relatable concepts, fostering patience and encouragement to help every student succeed. Additionally, she enjoys swimming and believes that consistent practice is essential for improvement, a principle she applies to her teaching. With experience working with students with ADHD and ADD, Irene brings valuable skills to her tutoring sessions.
